in the US dogs always have to be kept on a lead except in designated off-leash areas such as this one. Ocean Beach is the first leash-free beach in the US and was established in 1972.

there were about 30 metres of tributes to dogs who used to be taken to this beach. these are just a few.


and of course i got to say hi to a really friendly US pup in this place.
